Five Fabulous Fall Porch Ideas

Do you swoon at fall porches as much as I do? When the weather starts to turn and the calendar rolls into October, I’m always ready to begin my holiday decorating extravaganza! Most of the time, it starts with my fall porch!

There’s nothing better than putting together a beautiful display to welcome in the season. The warm fall colors of pumpkins and gourds, fall foliage, signage, pillows and the like combine to create such an inviting display full of comfort and warmth.

Porches from the Quite Simply Us Gals

I’m lucky enough to live in a home built circa 1918 with a wonderful, albeit slightly rickety, front porch to decorate each season! Honestly, decorating that porch is one of my absolute favorite things to do. And once complete, there’s nothing better than sitting on the porch on a cool, autumn evening, reading a book or writing in my journal, while sipping a fun fall cocktail concoction. Yep – ready to head to the porch right about now ๐Ÿ™‚

My porch tends to be a combination of items that have sentimental meaning, combined with new items I find each year and add to my collection. Sometimes everything makes it to the porch and other times only a few things do – just depends on the mood I’m in or the look I’m going for in any given year.

This year, I snagged some stunning mums, great pumpkins and a massive gourd over at Harmony Farm Market. Not gonna lie, I adore the gourd ๐Ÿ™‚

I went relatively classic this year and kept the focus on the mums and the pumpkins.

I also always like to be sure that my display looks lovely in the evening hours, as well.

As far as the other Quite Simply Us gals, Julie does a bit of fall decorating, too. A few pumpkins and mums combined with a fun Trick or Treat sign and scarecrow create a welcoming fall spot to enjoy the season.

Personally, I’m always inspired by looks I see around the internet or on my favorite blogs, so in addition to the porches from the Quite Simply Us gals, I thought I’d share a few of my favs for inspiration. I hope you find some ideas to give your own porch the fall feels.

Classic Fall Porch

I found this gorgeous porch over at Classy Girls Wear Pearls and it pretty much took my breath away. The varying colors of the mums add just the right amount of color to the porch, while the fall blankets draped over the back of the rockers are perfect for cozying up with your favorite book on a crisp fall day. Personally, I could spend an entire fall afternoon enjoying the serene vibes of this porch! The napping pooch would be an added bonus ๐Ÿ™‚

Small Fall Stoop

This porch from White Cottage Home and Living illustrates that even a smaller porch can look festive for the holiday season. A bit of the farmhouse look, combined with a touch of fall color adds just the right amount of dramatic interest against the stark black of the front door. The pop of the orange fall rug layered over the buffalo check of the mat creates a unique and interesting visual. This lovely look would be quite easy to put together and even easier on the eyes every time you walk through the door.

Stunning & Simple Fall Porch

The fantastic part about this sweet set-up from Home My Design is that it’s perfect for those that have a smaller area to work with or even those just starting out and building their fall collection. A few fall throw pillows, a cozy blanket, a few stunning mums and a handful of pumpkins randomly set about creates a fabulous and inviting spot to sit and enjoy the fall day.

Eclectic Fall Porch

This eclectic display by Yellow Prairie Interiors has such a warm, rustic vibe. I adore any type of decor where newer pieces are combined with vintage pieces to create a one-of-a-kind look. The picturesque door and table provide the perfect vintage backdrop for any fall display. I’m always on the lookout for these type of individual finds at thrift or antique stores. Pieces like this are also cost-effective because they can be used in displays with each passing season.

Farmhouse Porch

This farmhouse porch from Liz Marie Blog has such a vintage, yesteryear feel. The muted tones of the pumpkins and mums sing a beautiful autumnal harmony that reminds me of sitting on my family’s Virginia porch during fall family reunions in the south.

For me, fall is like that last vestige of bearable weather to be enjoyed. Just in case you weren’t aware, I kind of despise winter. Actually that’s not true. I more or less despise the frigid weather that winter brings! Therefore, I always take full advantage of the last remnants of warmth before I begin my long winter hibernation ๐Ÿ™‚

And remember, it doesn’t matter if you have tons of fall decorations or only have a mum or two – decorate that porch and add a little fall flair to your world.

Be sure to invite the gals over to enjoy your favorite fall drink and spend an afternoon whiling away the time with one another, making lasting memories and most of all, enjoying that fall porch you just created!
