Do you love quotes as much as I do? I love to read them, use them and, well – quote them. If you’re looking for that perfect quote to write on a card, to read at an event or something else entirely, we’ve got you covered with this great list of 50 friendship quotes for your best friend. You’re sure to find something that works for you!
And let’s talk about friendship for a minute, shall we? Friends are arguably some of the most important people in our lives. Most of us start making friends at a pretty young age. Often, those first friends are those rowdy little cousins. Sometimes they’re the kiddos that belong to our parents’ friends. They’re not necessarily people we’ve CHOSEN to be friends with.
As we grow older, we’re taught how to make our own friends and choose friends with traits that are important to us. But, there ARE lots of different types of friends, aren’t there? I bet you have some of each, just like I do!
- Acquaintances – These are people you’ve met or maybe talk to every once in a while. You’re happy to visit when you see them, but you don’t spend time talking with them or making plans with them when you’re not together.
- The Socials – Your social media friends obviously! Maybe you’ve known them since high school and you like and comment on one another’s posts on social media. But you don’t really hang out anymore. You do, however, have a shared history that’s still an important part of your own story.
- Friends of Necessity – People you’ve become friends with out of convenience or even necessity. I’m talking about parents from your kids’ sports teams, someone from church, a coworker or someone from a club you’re involved with.
- Best Friends – These are your people. The ones who know all of your secrets and your history. These are the friends who are there for the good, the bad and everything in between. They know us as love us no matter what.
We’ve got you covered with 50 friendship quotes for your best friend regardless of the type of quote you’re looking for!

So many wonderful quotes. I enjoyed reading, thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much. Love having quotes at my fingertips š
What a great list of friendship quotes! Friendships are so important in life and for our well-being. The bond you create will not be found in any other relationship. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you! And I agree, friendships are some of the most important relationships we can possibly have! I consider myself very blessed in that department š
I love the Thoreau quote–it’s so true! The best friends I have in my life are the people who make space for my dreams and aspirations and hold that space for as long as I need.
You can always count on Thoreau for some great quotes, I think. I agree though, those are the types of friends we all need in our lives.
I love this, especially since Iām always awful at writing in cards. Some of these may come in handy!
Right there with you! It’s funny that I’m a writer, but can NEVER figure out what to say on a card š Hopefully you’ll make good use of a few of these – I know I will.
